Compare like for like

  1. Use the same flight, dates, cabin and passengers. Compare baggage and change or cancellation rules before treating the two fares as equivalent.
  2. Enter the cash fare you would actually pay, and the miles and total cash due on the award. Include taxes, fees and surcharges. Use booking-screen totals rather than an indicative mileage calculator or a “from” fare.
  3. Set your own target if you have one. The DubaiPoints valuation method explains the editorial comparison baselines and their limits; they are not airline exchange rates or booking quotes.

The arithmetic

Cash saved is the cash fare minus the cash due on the award. Fils per mile divides that saving in fils by the miles required (100 fils make AED 1). The break-even cash fare adds the cash due on the award to what the miles are worth at your target, rounded up to the nearest fils.

This tool does not check availability, account balances or transfer timing, or value the miles you might earn on a paid fare. Check the live price, restrictions and the seat itself before transferring points or booking.
