If you collect Avios with Qatar Airways Privilege Club and want to spend them on an award ticket for someone else, Qatar now offers a feature it calls My List. Its terms and conditions, read on 27 September 2026, are specific enough to plan around.
What the terms say
- You can add up to four people to your List and redeem your own Avios for their award flights.
- Everyone on the List must be a Privilege Club member and aged 18 or over. They have to accept your invitation.
- Each person can be on only one List at a time. Anyone already in a Family & Friends group cannot be added.
- To create a List, your own account must be at least 30 days old.
- Once someone is added, they stay for at least six months. Neither of you can remove them before then.
- My List redemptions are limited to Qatar Airways and partner award flights.
- Only you spend from your balance. People on your List cannot redeem your Avios themselves.
Gold and Platinum are the exception
Gold and Platinum members can book award flights for anyone, not just the four people on their List. They can do it online, through the Contact Centre or at a Member Service Centre. Neither of Qatar’s pages extends that to Burgundy or Silver members.
Do not confuse it with Family & Friends
Qatar runs a second, separate feature on the same page. Family & Friends is for collecting Avios as a group. You can add up to nine people who are not Privilege Club members and pool what you earn. My List is for spending your Avios on other members’ award flights. Someone in a Family & Friends group cannot be put on a My List.
What the terms do not say
Qatar’s pages do not say when My List was introduced or what rule, if any, it replaced. Two points blogs, Points, Miles & Bling and Upgraded Points, reported in September 2026 that Qatar had removed a qualifying-activity requirement for redeeming for others. We could not confirm that from Qatar. The terms we read contain no such requirement; the only waiting period is your account’s 30 days.
The terms also limit My List to adults. They do not say how a member below Gold books an award for a child.
What to do
Choose your four names carefully. Each one is locked in for six months, so a List built in a hurry costs you half a year of flexibility. If you regularly book for more than four people, note that Qatar’s pages name only Gold and Platinum as free of the four-person List.
